Tree Club Award Scheme For as long as HWDMAC has been in existence, the trees have been there longer, and currently, are more in abundance than flying members.................................... not only that but they get taller every year ! These famous (or is it infamous ?) awards recognise that the Flackwell trees invariably have a life of their own, and are quite capable of moving into one's flying path, to the detriment of one's model. To balance this blatant attempt to curtail our activities, pilots who attack trees without regard for their own danger, or their aircraft, will be honoured accordingly. There are three levels of achievement ; a) Member Level. A member who reaches this level has to have hit at least 3 trees in his Pilot's career to qualify. He will duly receive his prize at the relevant monthly meeting, and will be congratulated by his Instructor. Each increment of 3 tree hits will result in a second award and sticker. Stickers can be proudly displayed on the Pilot's plane to indicate his prowess.
b) Instructor Level. The Instructor has already reached the 6 tree mark, and has probably gone further towards the 12 mark, even as this is written. To recognise this special achievement, a special sticker is created, and will be celebrated at a monthly meeting, as is the practise.
c) Chief Instructor Level. No one has yet reached this exalted status, but one of our number is working towards it ! This requires at least 24 "kills" with any plane - don't let him fly yours !
The Members Award
The Instructors Award
In addition to the right to add the above achievement stickers to your plane, the Club also donates a large cash incentive to compensate for the loss of one's aircraft. Training Instructors who write-off Trainees planes in this way should not be chided ; in fact they are merely following this scheme and should be congratulated. Make sure you mention this to them so they do not forget to receive their award. Nearly all T.I.'s in this situation will of course sportingly replace your plane anyway, so it is not an issue ! It's a great scheme , so do not forget to encourage all members to participate ! Proposals for Chief Instructor(Tree Club) should be in writing and sent to the Club Chairman by E-Mail (chairman@hwdmac.co.uk) Do you have anyone in mind ???????? As usual, none of the above information is in the Club Rule Book, so it could just be fiction.................................................
